A POLICE corporal has been arrested Saturday evening for possession of illegal drugs.
Police Lt. Col. Joepet Paglinawan, City Intelligence Unit head, identified the suspect as Police Corporal Jann Al Rey Balondo, assigned at Kinoguitan municipal police station.
He was arrested at Upper Zone 3, Barangay Agusan of the said city at about 11 pm.
Taken from the suspect's possession were a heat-sealed sachet containing suspected shabu, a square shape transparent sachet containing traces of alleged shabu placed inside his wallet, a wallet containing assorted personal IDs, his issued firearm ― a 9mm Glock pistol, a Glock 9mm magazine, nine 9mm bullets, three assorted lighters, a Vivo smartphone, and P850 cash.
Paglinawan said the arrest happened when a concerned citizen called up the group together with personnel from the Puerto police station while conducting an intensified operation against lawless elements and detective patrolling.
The informant revealed that an unidentified person was loitering at the said place carrying an unknown caliber of short firearm.
Immediately, the team proceeded to the area to verify the report.
Upon seeing the described person with a protruding firearm, responding policemen immediately accosted him.
While in the process of frisking the suspect accidentally a sachet containing suspected shabu fell to the ground.
During questioning the suspect appeared disoriented and incoherent with his statements.
