BLUEBERRIES are among the few fruits allowed in the low-carb diet. Good thing they’re yummy.

My sister Joan’s blueberry cheesecake, Totsy’s Danish berries marmalade… Okay, I can think of only two certified yummiest blueberry goodies.

Will durian and balut taste better with blueberries?

I’ve not even tried eating balut. Penoy, yes, because that’s the milder version. But balut, no.

The dorm I stayed in during college days had one suki vendor for balut and penoy, and another for ice cream. They would enter the dorm’s main gate at dinner time, so, we could buy their goodies as desserts.

Offices and mall tenants also have their suki food vendors who would drop by during lunch and merienda. I sometimes buy from the beauty-salon suki food vendor when I happen to be there when she drops by.

Xavier-Ateneo’s main campus canteen at Corrales Avenue also has yummy goodies that I look forward to indulging in each time I’m there.

It’s always a pleasant surprise to find carnivore food in a sea of carbs and there’s always that food item at the canteen and in the food vendor’s basket of goodies.

Carbs welcome me at the supermarket entrance: all kinds of bread, cakes, fruits, ice cream, veggies, rice.

Carbs in the inside supermarket aisles: biscuits, cookies, crackers, chips, polvoron, dried fruits, nuts, candies, chocolates, 3-in-1 coffee, choco drinks, fruit juices, soda, beer.

That’s why the low-carb doctor’s advice is to avoid the inside supermarket aisles. Unless you’re buying coconut cooking oil.

Focus on the outside supermarket aisles that have fresh food items: beef, pork, chicken, fish, eggs. That’s all you need in the carnivore diet. Just add salt, water, butter, ghee, lard, and tallow. Simple, eh? No need to list ingredients for a particular dish.

And grocery shopping takes less time now compared to my pre-carnivore days when I was still buying nuts and fruits allowed in the low-carb diet. I had to look at their ingredients to ensure there’s no sugar, honey, vegetable oil, soy, sugar, etc.

Checking out a food item’s ingredients is a tedious task that could convince any low-carb dieter to transition to the simpler carnivore diet already.

And the carnivore dieter who still experiences symptoms will eventually level up to the lion diet: beef, salt, water. Ribeyes! Yum!

But ribeyes are so expensive here in Pinas, so, nilagang baka and ground beef will do.

The nutrient-dense meals will help the carnivore in his intermittent fasting and in practicing TMAD — two meals a day — or OMAD — one meal a day.

There are times when I even forget to eat. Which I would have considered as a miracle in my high-carb days when I was eating six meals a day: breakfast, morning snacks, lunch, afternoon snacks, dinner, midnight snacks.

The bedroom’s mini fridge was always filled to the brim with snacks: Chippy barbecue flavor, Jack N Jill Potato Chips classic, Piattos sour cream & onion, Pringles sour cream & onion, wheat bread, mayonnaise, cucumber slices, Coke Zero, S&R Supergarlic Mix, Cheding’s toasted peanuts and all other brands of peanuts, cashew nuts, Mauna Loa macadamias, Pepperidge Farm Milano cookies, Royce Nama Chocolate, Eng Bee Tin golden pork floss hopia, etc. Cravings, anyone?
