THE Chamber of Real Estate and Builders Associations (Creba) has endorsed a new rapid construction method as a potential solution to the Philippines’ housing backlog.
Creba President Engr. Chrysler Acebu voiced support for the Holon Technology introduced by RGJ Realty Corporation, which recently completed a nine-day condo-type housing project in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental.
Speaking at a press conference on November 11 alongside the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD-10), Acebu highlighted the urgency of addressing the 2.5 million unit shortfall in the government’s housing initiative, part of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pamilyang Pilipino (4PH) program.
Acebu described the Holon Technology as “prefabricated, lightweight, and easy to assemble,” with structures constructed using titanium steel instead of traditional materials.
“The government is open to innovative methodologies to help address the backlog,” Acebu said, noting he is optimistic that Marcos will consider adopting the technology.
However, he acknowledged the importance of structural integrity, suggesting that the local Office of Building Officials (OBO) inspect the project to ensure compliance.
Cagayan de Oro Chamber of Commerce President Avalyn Cahulogan urged residents to remain vigilant regarding the new construction method.
Meanwhile, DHSUD-10 legal representative Atty. Coreine Imee Valledor-Sarraga assured the public that the necessary environmental and safety checks had been conducted for the RGJ project.
The DHSUD-10 Housing and Construction Congress Expo, held through November 14 in Cagayan de Oro, aims to promote affordable housing solutions and highlight innovative construction practices.
