YOU have to be good at math as you attach weight plates to the bar of the gym’s squat rack before doing a deadlift. The bar itself is already 20 kilograms. If you’re now lifting, say, 120 kilograms, what weight plates will you use?
Math is used here, there, and everywhere. Even for counting the change that a cashier has given you.
For government contracts, math is also required in computing the 30-percent commission. Oops!
The politician may count the commission right in front of the contractor. Or his minions will do the counting. Or he will simply estimate how many millions in cold hard cash can fit inside a duffel bag, considering that a small eco bag can have as much as P1.5 million in P1,000 bills.
Math can be stressful, though, if it’s used in computing taxes especially for the Pinoy who knows that the amount he paid will only go to commissions for politicians. Oops!
Politics can also be stressful. But despite Doc Willie Ong’s revelation that stress caused his cancer, political wannabes will still run for office in 2025.
Imagine the stress in looking for campaign funds. If they already have campaign funds, imagine the stress in saying yes to the political party’s request to share the funds with their fellow candidates. If they’re already sharing those funds, imagine the stress of not recouping the money if they lose. Napakasakit, Kuya Eddie.
But will it be worth the stress for the winners? Which is kind of the same question I asked when I was looking for the best halo-halo in Cagayan de Oro: will it be worth the carbs?
Math is also used in computing carbs which should be 20 grams or less for the keto diet. For the carnivore, no need to compute carbs since you won’t be eating them.
For those who are on a calorie-deficit diet, the computation can be complicated. Caloric input: 3,000. Caloric output: 300. Caloric gain: 2,700. Ouch. But I have no idea if the computation is correct since I’ve never counted calories.
The new political wannabes, however, may have to count the number of votes they will get by conducting a survey before filing their certificates of candidacy, that is, if they want to save their money. Because it’s possible that the political party only wants their funds. But they will be left behind since the political party prefers minions it can control. These new wannabes will only be used, misused, and abused for the benefit of the party.
The party that’s more like a wedding reception, complete with lechon, a wedding cake, and a sack of rice. At least the newlyweds and their guests will be happy. This kind of party may be criticized, though, by the opposition.
Who exactly is the opposition? The answer to that can be confusing in CDO where political parties tend to merge. For now, there’s green merging with orange, which are actually a good combination if we’re talking about colors, way much better than violet and orange. I mean, try wearing a violet top and a pair of orange bottoms, let’s see if you won’t look like the political party’s jester.
