AUTHORITIES arrested a farmer for illegal possession of a firearm, ammunition, and drugs yesterday afternoon.
Provincial Police Director Jun Mark Lagare identified the suspect as Ronald Rivas alias ‘Botchoy,’ 45, married, and a resident of Purok 2A, Barangay Poblacion, Lantapan of the said province.
He was arrested by a joint team from Lantapan municipal police station led by Police Major Jayvee Babaan together with 1st Bukidnon Police Mobile Force Company, Bukidnon Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, Bukidnon Police Intelligence Unit, and 3rd Special Forces Company at 3:39 pm.
The group implemented the search and seizure warrant issued by Judge Rainier Eusebio Aquino of the Municipal Circuit Trial Court-10, Lantapan-Cabanglasan.
Seized from the suspect’s possession was a cal. 45, Syracuse pistol with serial no. 81753, a cal. 45 steel magazine, seven pieces of cal. 45 cartridges, and a hand fragmentation grenade (M61).
Also taken from him were six sachets containing suspected shabu with an estimated amount of P29,800, and shabu paraphernalia.
The search was witnessed by the Department of Justice representative, and Barangay officials.
The suspect and all the pieces of evidence seized were brought to the Lantapan police for documentation and proper disposition.
