TODAY, the PN Roa Elementary School in Cagayan de Oro City launched Brigada Eskwela 2024 with a call for community involvement.
Earlier, the school invited socio-civic organizations and stakeholders to join the event, stating, "Tara na at makilahok sa Brigada Eskwela."
This year's Brigada Eskwela is a joint community service effort involving multiple groups.
Among them are the Royal Knights Eagles Club, Noemi L. Mandac Memorial Court - Order of the Amaranth (within the Masonic Fraternity), the Parents-Teachers Association (PTA) of PN Roa Elementary School, and the Philippine National Police.
Like the Philippine Eagles, a fraternal order dedicated to humanitarian service, the Order of the Amaranth also focuses on building foundations of Fraternal Love and Service and extending a Hand of Fraternal Friendship to those in need.
In her opening message, Dra. Maria Lodel C. Daabay, the school head, highlighted the Brigada Eskwela 2024 theme: "Bayanihan para sa Matatag na Paaralan."
She thanked the volunteers, emphasizing that the event, held from July 22 to 26, represents a collaboration of all stakeholders, including parents and teachers, to prepare the school for the upcoming academic year.
"Your participation and support are crucial to ensure a safe and conducive learning environment for our students," Dra. Daabay stated.
Daabay also mentioned that the Department of Education (DepEd) had announced the Brigada Eskwela for School Year 2024-2025, setting it for July 22–26.
The theme remains "Bayanihan para sa Matatag na Paaralan," according to DepEd Memorandum No. 33-2024, released on July 10.
The Brigada Eskwela 2024 kick-off ceremony at Pedro "Oloy" N. Roa Sr. Elementary School began at 10 am, following participant registration at 8 am.
The registration was managed by Grade Level documentation coordinators, including Evelyn A. Tuyor for Grade 1 and Nariflor A. Baslan for Grade 2, among others.
Cristina U. Cuadrasal delivered the words of welcome, while Emma Linda G. Lagbas explained the statement of purpose.
An intermission number, a Zumba performance by Liny C. Bruno, energized the participants.
Hermie N. Fabre presented the volunteers, followed by an inspirational message and a message of support from Dra. Daabay.
Marjorie S. Cabang then delivered a message of acknowledgment and appreciation.
The event also included a Pledge of Commitment from the volunteers, a community song, and a ceremonial Brigada Eskwela.
The implementation of Brigada Eskwela 2024 then followed, with teachers Eva Mac S. Baculio and Ruby N. Abellera serving as the masters of ceremony.
Hundreds of parents and volunteers contributed to the success of Brigada Eskwela 2024, ensuring a well-prepared and welcoming school environment for the students in the upcoming academic year.
