By LITO RULONA Correspondent THREE people were hurt and at least 20 houses were razed to the ground by a fire that broke out at Purok 2-C, Barangay Gusa, yesterday morning. Cagayan de Oro Fire District chief Shirley Teleron identified the injured as Ian Vincent Ebajay, 17; Esther Ebajay, 15; and Jun Ebajay, 20. They suffered minor burns, and were subsequently declared out of danger. Supt. Teleron said investigators were still looking into the cause of the morning fire that caused structural damages placed at P500 thousand. She said some 20 houses were destroyed, and some were damaged. Some witnesses said the fire broke out at a boarding house owned by Virginia Fernandez that was leased out to Mira Coquilan. Firefighters found it difficult to penetrate the area because there was no road for vehicles. “Unsay nahimo nato, ato na lamang nga gisumpay-sumpay ang mga house sa mga firetruck aron makasulod sa interior area,” she said. Teleron said barangay officials should work to widen streets and roads leading to thickly populated areas of Gusa. Gusa barangay chairman Marlon Tabac said the displaced families sought shelter at a vacant lot near the barangay hall. Tabac also called on city hall to immediately send aid to the affected families.
