By Rose Muneza, Correspondent Isulan, Sultan Kudarat — The rehabilitation of the mountain ranges of Daguma and Matutum is underway as environmental advocates race against time to present this as a “gift” for the opening of the Kalimudan Festival here today. Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer Renato Domingo, Tacurong City environment officer Abunawas Abdu-ladsis, along with their staff have been hard at work in rehabilitating the mountain ranges of Daguma and Matutum. “If the period will not be enough an extension program will push through until the mountains would have been fully rehabilitated,” said Domingo. The mountain ranges covers the towns of Bagum-bayan, Isulan, Senator Ninoy Aquino, Esperanza, Lutayan, and Columbio all part of Sultan Kudarat province. Domingo stressed that the activities would be their “gift” to the leadership of Governor Sultan Pax Ma-ngudadatu and part of the on-going Kalimudan Festival on the administration’s program for “Greener environment.” In a huddle with Abdu-ladsis, he said the greening project is part of the more or less 5,000 hectares part of the 12,028 hectares under the National Greening Program. Columbio Mayor Amirh Musali and Lutayan Vice Mayor Noel Antonio, along with thousands of students and members of local people’s organization joined in the greening project.
