IF you’ve been hiding under a rock lately, you’re marked safe from “Hello, Love, Again,” “Apt.,” the quad committee’s drug war hearing starring former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte, and the political candidates’ tarpaulins that have been sprouting like crazy nationwide, as if the bigger the tarpaulin, the more votes they will attract.
Actually, it’s the higher the bribe, the more votes they will attract. Oops!
“Ikaw ang tahanan ko.” If the love of your life tells you that, what will your first thought be?
Mine will be, Juice colored. I’ve already lost weight, and he still treats me like I’m as big as a tahanan.
Haha!
“Ikaw ang tahanan ko” is the line you’ll always remember about “Hello, Love, Again.” You may forget its plot, cheesy dialogue, and the usual Pinoy-movie pastel-colored scenes, but not the “tahanan” line.
Or if not that line, its theme song, “Palagi,” will remain in your heart forevermore. Composed by Cagayanon TJ Monterde and performed by him and his wife KZ Tandingan, its lyrics are perfect for the movie: “Ngunit sa huli, palagi/Babalik pa rin sa yakap mo/Hanggang sa huli, palagi/Pipiliin kong maging sa ‘yo/Ulit-ulitin man/Nais kong malaman mong/Iyo ako palagi/Palagi.” Sigh.
This movie would have been perfect for Valentine’s Day. But it’s also timely for the Christmas season when overseas Filipino workers (OFW) come home for the holidays. The movie’s main characters Joy/Marie (Kathryn Bernardo) and Ethan (Alden Richards) are OFWs.
It’s the usual predictable Pinoy movie. And that’s the only spoiler I can reveal here otherwise you’ll know the entire story.
Their love story was first revealed through “Hello, Love, Goodbye” in 2019. So, it’s natural for the Pinoy KathDen fan to expect a third installment. The question now is, what will the title be? Hello, Love, Hello?
My sis Joan’s idol was Nadine Lustre, not Bernardo. But I did watch “Hello, Love, Goodbye” in 2019 and agreed with her: Yeah, Bernardo couldn’t act.
Pinoy actors tend to be so conscious of how they will look on screen, and the audience—or is it just me?—can sense that.
Vilma Santos and Nora Aunor are among the few Pinoy showbiz stars who don’t care about their looks once they are acting, that’s why they’ve won so many best-actress awards. Once they’re in a movie, it’s almost like you’re there with them, you’re part of the story.
If asked to choose a topic between showbiz and politics, I’d pick showbiz because I’m curious about the meaning of “Apt.” and don’t care about the drug hearings despite the presence of former President Rody.
So, what’s up, er, “Apt.”? Our Zumba group danced to this more than two weeks ago when it wasn’t as popular as it is now. Yes, our Zumba instructor is advance mag-isip.
Now, it’s here, there, and everywhere. “Apateu, apateu/Apateu, apateu/Apateu, apateu/Uh, uh-huh, uh-huh.” It’s growing out of your mouth, nose, and ears. But you still love the song. It’s too catchy to ignore.
If only the official campaign season has started, surely all political candidates will use “Apt.” as their campaign jingle and even dance to it at campaign sorties. Imagine your most favorite candidate doing the “Apt.” choreography. Cute, no?
