The HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) Aids (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome) in Gingoog City is now pegged at 51 confirmed cases said Gingoog City Councilor Jerome Magan.
In a phone interview last Friday, Magan said the rise in AIDS cases in the city should be looked into.
“Kinahanglan na gayod kini matutukan nga problema,” Magan, who chairs the committee on health, said.
Marzita Arango, the chairperson of the Gingoog City AIDS Network (GCAN), said 51 confirmed positives is an accumulative number from the year 2014 up to the present.
Arango said two tested positive for the virus in their tests, two weeks ago, adding to the 49 positive cases as of January, this year.
Arango said there were many were voluntarily presented themselves to be tested but only two returned to City Health Office and tested positive.
