TALISAYAN police discovered a human skeleton of an unknown person Wednesday morning in a grassy knoll in Sitio Nariran, Barangay Macopa in Misamis Oriental.
The town’s chief of police Major Ralph S. Santoluna said the skeleton of an unidentified person was discovered by the soldiers of the Army’s 58th Infantry Battalion who conducted a routine patrol in the area about 12 kilometers away from their detachment located in Barangay Macopa.
The following day the human skeleton was retrieved from the area and brought to the town mortuary, Santoluna added.
Santoluna said that initial investigation revealed that the human remains have been in the area for more than a month, adding that the remains did not decompose immediately because the area has cold weather.
The police have yet to identify the gender of the human remains.
Meanwhile, the Forensic team based in Gingoog City took samples for a DNA test of a human skeleton at the mortuary and then hours after it was immediately buried at a local cemetery in this town, Santoluna said.
“Kung kinsa kadtong nawalaan og sakop sa banay o pamilya palihug lamang sa pag dangop sa kapulisan dinhi sa Talisayan,” he said.
