CAGAYAN de Oro City Mayor Rolando "Klarex" Uy has promised to assist with hospital bills and funeral expenses for the family of the late Barangay Kagawad Tyler Sia. This announcement was made by Sheila Lumbatan, the City Mayor’s Office Chief of Staff and Co-Chair of Higalaay 2024, Saturday.
Sia, a respected official from Barangay Puntod, tragically passed away during the "Liga Night: Philippine Festivals" event on August 23, 2024.
The incident occurred at Rio de Oro Boulevard, where Sia collapsed on stage while performing.
Emergency Medical Service personnel from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department (CDRRMD) quickly attended to him.
He was rushed to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC), but despite efforts to revive him, Sia was declared dead at around 11:00 PM.
Mayor Klarex, through Lumbatan, expressed his deepest condolences to Sia’s family and the Barangay Puntod community.
He assured them that the city government would cover medical expenses and assist with funeral arrangements.
The Barangay Puntod Council, led by Kapitan Alexis Dacer, and the SK Council, headed by SK Chairwoman Erika Sajulga, also extended their sympathies to the Sia and Uayan families, recognizing Sia’s dedication to the community.
The tragic event has deeply affected residents, who remember Sia as a committed leader.
"His untimely passing is a significant loss to those he served," according to Lumbatan.
Mayor Uy, through Lumbatan, reaffirmed the administration's commitment to supporting those in need, urging the community to come together to honor Sia’s legacy and support his grieving family.
