“IMAGINE there’s no countries/It isn’t hard to do/Nothing to kill or die for/And no religion, too/Imagine all the people/Livin' life in peace/You/You may say I’m a dreamer/But I’m not the only one/I hope someday you’ll join us/And the world will be as one.”
“War, war is stupid and people are stupid/And love means nothing in some strange quarters/War, war is stupid and people are stupid/And I heard them banging on hearts and fingers/War.”
These are the two songs that immediately come to mind when war is erupting again in this crazy world we live in. They should stop throwing missiles and simply adopt the more politically correct way of dealing with conflict: ignoring the other, let them be, let go and let God. Because, in case you haven’t noticed, nothing can equal God’s wrath. Wait, I’ve just quoted “Imagine there’s…no religion,” and here I am mentioning God. So, now you know why there’s conflict.
There’s this thing called boundaries. Countries have them, people have them. Like marking one’s territory by peeing on it. Or spitting on some food while others are watching so no one else will eat it—haha! Or building walls, building imaginary walls, with the words “Don’t me” kind of tattooed on one’s forehead.
It’s easy to point out countries that don’t respect boundaries. Missiles, anyone?
It’s also easy to point out people who don’t respect boundaries. I don’t have to enumerate the many ways it happens but you’ll know. You begin to sense something’s amiss. The first strike can be ignored. The second, forgiven. The third, perhaps someone is having a bad day. But the fourth, hmmm, nope, time to let go otherwise the toxicity will get to you.
Having zero tolerance for people who are not aware of boundaries is possible. These are the people who feel so comfortable with you to the extent they start blurting out whatever they see is wrong with you. So, you respond in kind. And the exchange will lead to more exchanges of the same until they reach World War III levels. If you’re the civil one, opt to stop the communication before war happens, and to avoid hearing that person’s whining voice which whines even for small matters that are on instant replay. Enough already.
The countries’ version of World War III, though, is perhaps worth whining about since it will disrupt the normal turning of the world. That’s the world that’s still recovering from Covid-19 while dealing with monkeypox. It has had enough of challenges. What it needs is people who respect boundaries.
There’s this saying that goes, “Man plans, God laughs.” That’s true again today as the world may have to face another war. Whew. God forbid. Oh, wait, what happened to “Imagine there’s…no religion”?
Man plans and he lets the plan happen. That’s it. No chance to beg for his wishes to come true. Tsk tsk.
Man is better off with “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” At least that game show has three main lifelines: 50:50, Phone a Friend, and Ask the Audience.
