CAGAYAN de Oro City — Maragusan emerged as the overall champion of the 2026 Davao de Oro Provincial Athletic Association (DDOPAA) Meet, finishing ahead of 10 other municipal delegations in the provincial sports competition.
Maragusan secured the title after dominating the Elementary division and producing strong results in Para Athletics.
Nabunturan placed second overall, followed by Compostela in third. Pantukan and Monkayo completed the top five.
The other finishers were Maco in sixth, Montevista seventh, Mabini eighth, Mawab ninth, Laak 10th, and New Bataan 11th.
Elementary title powers Maragusan
Maragusan's Elementary delegation played a key role in its overall victory, claiming the division championship.
The team also won the Elementary Softball title at the Compostela Sports Complex after beating Montevista, 7-3.
Maragusan fell behind early but answered with a four-run second inning. The team added another run in the fifth and kept Montevista scoreless for the remainder of the game.
In table tennis, elementary paddler Jeah M. Lagungan took silver in the Girls’ Singles after a five-set final against Monkayo's Sweetzel Terry M. Pareñas.
Monta delivers three golds
Maragusan also finished second overall in the Para Games behind host Compostela.
Palarong Pambansa qualifier Given Angelo B. Monta led Maragusan's campaign in the Ortho category, winning three gold medals under coach Mary Jessica R. Fernandez.
Monta topped the high jump, seated shot put, and running long jump.
More medals across events
Maragusan also reached the final of the Secondary Softball competition, settling for silver against Mawab.
In track and field, Jhon Rick Silmaro won bronze in the Secondary Boys’ High Jump. Jan Boyeth Silvano of Monkayo won gold, while Eucel Glye Llamos of Nabunturan took silver.
With the provincial meet completed, Maragusan's top performers will join the unified Davao de Oro delegation as athletes prepare for the upcoming regional competitions.
