THE municipality of Medina in Misamis Oriental is set to construct a new three-story municipal building worth P70 million, replacing the current structure built with light materials, according to Mayor Donato Chan.
The project is part of a larger P130-million renovation plan that includes the mayor’s office, the Sangguniang Bayan Hall, and the Bureau of Fire.
Jejor’s Construction of Cagayan de Oro City won the bid for the project, which is expected to begin later this year.

Mayor Chan credited Rep. Christian Unabia of the First Congressional District of Misamis Oriental for providing P60 million towards the new building, with an additional P10 million contributed by Senator Miguel Zubiri. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on October 15.
The new building aims to offer a modern, functional workspace for town officials and staff, improving local government services.
The old municipal building, constructed in 1957 through the efforts of the late Senator Emmanuel N. Pelaez, will soon be demolished to make way for the new structure.
