MEMBERS of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Misamis Oriental have passed a resolution to invite the regional director and provincial officer ]of the National Commission of the Indigenous People (NCIP-10) to their regular session next week.
Majority Floor Leader Gerardo Sabal III penned the resolution inviting NCIP head in the region and in the province for next week’s regular session to shed light on the botched dialogue in Gingoog City, recently.
The Sangguniang Panlalawigan wanted to know what really happened during the NCIP meeting, Sabal said.
“The August body would like to know the whole situation during the meeting,” said Sabal.
This resolution was also passed when Board Member Allan Mandokita, Indigenous People Mandatory Representative, in his special report during the regular session that he felt that the said meeting conducted by the NCIP national in Gingoog City was not fair.
Mandokita has appealed to the majority of the board members to help resolve the problem.
Mandokita said he felt dismayed by the situation during that time.
On November 22, NCIP Chairman Allen Capuyan with other government agencies, including the military and the police, conducted a meeting to resolve the land disputes in the hinterland barangays of Eureka in Gingoog and Minalwang in Claveria town.
It was learned about 600 hectares, more or less, of land area have been disputed by the Mandokita Clan and the Pinagawa Clan.
Chairman Capuyan failed to find a “win-win” solution during the meeting as the Pinagawa Clan refused to receive more than 200 hectares offered from the Mandokita Clan.
