Misamis Oriental Provincial Government’s compliance in its bid for the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) award is now 85 percent closer to a back-to-back win in 2016.
Stanley B. Uriarte, Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator, said Misamis Oriental will likely qualify for the award in terms of financial administration, disaster preparedness, social protection, peace and order, business friendliness and competitiveness; environmental management and tourism, culture and the arts.
He said Governor Yev-geny Vincente “Bambi” B. Emano badly wanted the back-to-back win as millions-worth of projects from the national government will be poured into the province which is part of the award.
“But it cannot be done by the governor alone. We have to work hard for this,” Uriarte told the department heads in the Provincial Government during yesterday’s evaluation and preparations meeting.
On June 1-2, the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) in northern Mindanao’s regional assessment team will make its final recommendation to the DILG-Central Office whether the province qualifies for the award or not.
