THE Food Always In The Home (Faith) program of the Provincial Capitol of Misamis Oriental was created to empower the poor in the province to learn how to earn, this was disclosed by Mayor Rico Taray of the town of Talisayan in the eastern part of the province
He said that the Faith program is tasked to educate people especially the poor as its concept is to teach them to learn how to improve their livelihood with their efforts without relying on government assistance.
Through the Faith program, the ideal livelihood for them is to plant vegetables in every yard Taray said.
As Chairman of the Gingoog Bay Area composed of Magsaysay, Gingoog City, Medina, Talisayan, and Balingoan Mayor Taray urged everyone to plant vegetables in every backyard.
For his part, Board Member Rey Buhisan said that planting vegetables through the Faith program in every yard is a great help to save money amid the constant increase in commodities in the market.
However, Buhisan said the program has not been fully implemented, but he hopes that next year it will be in full-blast operation after it is included in the annual budget for this year's budget hearing.
“Sa pagkakaron aduna lamang isa ka barangay matag munisipyo apil ang duha ka dakbayan sa Gingoog ug El Salvador nga gihimong pilot sa maong programa,” said Buhisan.
Buhisan said the program collaborates with the Department of Education and the Department of Science and Technology with the Department of Agriculture.
Susan Laquibla of the Division Head Food Production of the Provincial Agriculture Office said planting vegetables of the Faith program will be done through communal and individual gardening.
She said to encourage them there is also a competition for best communal garden and best individual backyard gardening with enough budget for the prizes provided by Governor Peter Unabia.
