WE wanted to buy a smart TV for a bedroom but the 32-inch had only one stock, the one on display. The better model was the 43-inch, of course. But we thought the TV stand at home was too small for it, so, we decided to return once the appliance store had new stocks since they did promise to call us. Besides, there would be discounts on the day that the new stocks were scheduled to arrive.
Upon arriving home, I measured the TV stand and realized the 43-inch would be fine. So, we decided to return to the appliance store. And then, bro reminded me about the discount—about P2,000—if I’d buy on the next day. My minute brain went, Hmmm.
Then, he asked, What if the 43-inch on display is also the last set in stock? My reply: Then we’d buy whatever is still in their stock room. And we started joking: What if only the 55-inch has available sets aside from the one on display? Or the 65-inch? The 75-inch? I said, Then we’d go home with that TV. And bro said, It will be the TV with a bedroom. Haha!
I was desperate. This TV purchase was supposed to be in December. But I had coughs and wanted to rest before Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. And when I was in between coughs, bro was busy.
The good thing about an appliance store’s display is that the potential buyer could easily see the smartest among these smart TVs. Anyone could see who’s the fairest, er, what’s the clearest and most vivid of them all.
It’s in politics that no one could see who’s the fairest, er, who’s telling the truth and nothing but the truth especially when Davao and Malacanang were accusing each other of…
Wait, before finding out what the ado is all about—because it could be much ado about nothing—better watch the Netflix miniseries “Griselda” which has a pleasant surprise: Sofia Vergara in a serious role. So serious, I didn’t recognize her.
“Griselda” is based on a true story about the drug trade.
Are you drugs? is the question asked if you look like a drug addict. I don’t know if it’s the proper question that should be addressed to the debaters in the Davao-versus-Malacanang accusations.
I’ve always said that politicians are already planning for their campaign in the next elections right after their victory in the current elections. That’s life in politics. They’ll lose their relevance if they keep quiet especially in this age of social media, TikTok, Facebook Reels, vloggers, memes, etc. “If you can’t beat them, join them,” as the saying goes.
Or should that be, If you can’t join them, beat them? Which seemed to be the thought bubble hovering above these two political dynasties who were accusing each other. And for this to happen while we have just paid for the business permit renewal and the quarterly value-added tax, can be a recipe for the blues amidst January’s aircon weather. 20 degrees Celsius in Cagayan de Oro on Saturday morning. Brrrrr.
