MORE than a million worth of suspected shabu were seized by operatives assigned at the Police Regional Office-10 from three illegal drug personalities yesterday morning.

Police Lt. Neil Payos, Regional Drug Enforcement Unit chief, identified the suspects as Alejandro Yañez alias ‘Plong-Plong,’ Cerch Carcosa, Jonalyn Nafarrete, all residing at Sitio Balongis, Barangay Balulang, Cagayan de Oro City.

The suspects, who are considered high-value individuals, were all arrested at Zone 1, Barangay Canitoan of the said city at 11:27 am.

In a police report, it was learned that prior to the arrest one of the suspects handed a sachet worth P1,000 to police undercover agent.

When the responding authorities conducted a body search they found another several sachets containing a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu.

Payos’ men were able to confiscate more from the suspects’ possession, 14 sachets containing the same drugs in different sizes that weighed 150 grams with a total street value of P1,020,00.

Payos said the operation was the result of a two-month operation conducted by their team.

All of the suspects are now temporarily detained at the Maharlika detention facility and will be charged with violating Republic Act 9165, known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002.

Police Regional Director-10 Brig. Gen. Benjamin Acorda, Jr., commended the operating unit.

He said elements from the Police Regional Office-10 will never end their momentum in pushing themselves to the limits in aiming for a drug-free Northern Mindanao.

“Nevertheless, I cannot disregard the fact that our community has been supportive of our campaign against illegal drugs. This accomplishment only proves that the strongest means in putting an end to this problem is our unity itself.” Acorda said. (With reports from Manuel Aleman)
