2025 is the Year of the Wood Snake.
Some zodiac signs will be lucky this year.
Meanwhile, the unlucky will have to work hard to make this year lucky since the only people who will always be lucky are those named Lucky. Just by saying their name—Oist, Lucky!—we’re already sending good vibes to them.
Years ago, walking was my daily exercise, and there was that day when one of the village’s guards seemed to be walking in and out of my vision. A new way of walking?
It was only when we were almost facing each other that I realized why. He had a huge snake on his shoulders and he was trying to control its head and tail. Yikes!
I asked him where he caught the snake, and he pointed at a house nearby. When I passed by that house, its residents were still there in their backyard, talking about the snake.
I’m the type that always asks questions. If, say, there’s a huge crowd at a mall, I’d ask someone, What the…? That’s how I learned that Bea Alonzo was right there onstage at the Centrio Activity Center. Had I been so keber, I would have missed watching her sing.
Yes, she sings. Or lip-syncs?
My sis Joan used to be embarrassed whenever I got curious and nothing could stop me from asking questions from anyone whom I suspected was part of the team that was making things happen.
One time we waited for Rico Blanco to perform at SM Seaside City Cebu. His band was having their soundcheck and one of the band members is a friend of Joan’s berks. So, I told her to approach that band member and introduce herself, because I wanted to be front and center at the venue. Haha. Of course, she said no.
Curiosity is how I discover what a food vendor is selling. Like the one who goes around SM City CDO Uptown. I see her at the gym, salon, at the alteration place for clothes, etc., almost tempting me to say, Stalker! Of course she’s not. But whenever I see her, I always ask her what she’s selling this time. And that’s how I discover food that I’ve never tried before. And sometimes it’s high-carb. Oops.
Curiosity is what has made me try all kinds of halo-halo in Cagayan de Oro, and I’ve begun to expand that coverage to Misamis Oriental. The yummiest so far is, hmmm, I don’t know.
My most favorite ice cream is ube and I gotta feeling that’s the reason I love halo-halo.
For lesser calories and carbs, I’m better off with ube ice cream instead of all the additional ingredients that halo-halo has.
But once I’ve tried a resto’s halo-halo, I’m not ordering it again. Because the truth is, beef, pork, chicken, fish, and eggs are way much more delish than carbs.
January is the perfect time to start a diet-and-exercise regimen. You know, new year, new me.
Diets are aplenty. To avoid confusion, choose carnivore for its simplicity. All you’ll need to remember is, Animal. Yeah, like the expletive: Animal!
If it’s an animal, it’s allowed in the carnivore diet. Snake, for example. And you can sell the snakeskin to Hermes which it uses for bags.
