CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — Parents and caregivers in Northern Mindanao can access free lessons on maternal and child nutrition as the National Nutrition Council-10 (NNC-10) launches its 2026 Nutrition School-on-the-Air this month.

The eight-episode program will focus on nutrition and caregiving during the first 1,000 days of life, covering pregnancy through a child’s second birthday.

NNC-10 said the lessons will tackle practical topics such as proper nutrition during pregnancy, exclusive breastfeeding, complementary feeding and responsive caregiving.

The program will be aired live on the NNC-10 official Facebook page at 3 p.m. every Monday and Friday from Sept. 14 to Oct. 9.

Parents, caregivers, health and nutrition workers, and other interested listeners can join the sessions online.

After each episode, participants will take a five-item quiz to check their understanding of the lessons. The program will end with a virtual Graduation Day, where active participants will be recognized and qualified enrollees will receive certificates of completion.

For families, the program offers an accessible source of information on practices that can help support the health and development of mothers and young children.

NNC-10 Project Development Officer Candice Margarette Mongas said the program seeks to strengthen the knowledge of families, caregivers and communities on the importance of proper nutrition during the first 1,000 days.

The program supports the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition 2023-2028. (GDA/PIA-10 with reports from NNC-10)
