ILIGAN City has succeeded in vaccinating 26% of its population here, so far.

This was the gist of the statement of Zenaida Casilac, vaccine team coordinator, here yesterday. She did not specify whether how many received first or second doses. To note, the city has a population of 310,000.

These days, she added, the teams have begun on the pediatrics category, for ages 12 to 17 She then enjoined residents here to have their kids on that age range vaccinated. For those who do not have comorbidities, the sites are at Robinson's mall at Tubod, this city, and at La Salle Academy at Jeffrey road, Palao. Parents only have to bring their IDs any that of their kids’ IDs she said.

For those who have comorbidities, they have to go to the Adventist Medical Center at Tibanga, she said.

They are also accepting walk-in vaccinees and they are not strict now on appointment slips even as she enjoined people not to believe in stories about vaccines that are not true.

It was observed, she said that many seniors here are hesitant to have these vaccines because they have listened to “fake news” about vaccines.

City mayor Celso G. Regencia earlier too appealed to the people here to get themselves vaccinated so they can move “freely” come Christmas time.
