OZAMIZ City police arrested two persons in an entrapment operation in relation to a lost mobile phone yesterday afternoon.
Police Provincial Director Police Col. Marlon Quimno, identified the suspects as Gendy Tejano, 56, married, residing at Purok 1, Barangay Lapasan, Clarin; and Mark Lester Manreal, 32, married, and a resident of Purok 3, Barangay Pan-ay, Tudela, both of Misamis Occidental.
The operation was done at Barangay Aguada of the said city at 2:30 pm by Ozamis City Police Station.
Quimno said that prior to the arrest, a certain Jennifer Pepito, 48 of Purok 4, Barangay Digson, Bonifacio came to the said police station and reported that her mobile phone (iPhone brand) was lost and she was informed that somebody found it.
Later she received a call from one of the suspects telling her that her cell phone was in his possession and that she could have it again if she will give them money.
Immediately, authorities conducted an entrapment operation at the place the suspects and the complainant agreed. Both the suspects were nabbed.
Confiscated from the suspects were P15,000 cash; a cellular phone (Oppo brand), and a wallet.
The suspects who are temporarily detained at the said police headquarter will be facing charges of theft, robbery extortion, resistance, and disobedience to persons in authority.
