CAGAYAN de Oro City — Residents of Misamis Oriental can expect continued police visibility and closer coordination with local governments as newly appointed Police Regional Office-10 Director PBGen. Nestor C. Babagay Jr. vowed to sustain crime prevention efforts in the province.
Babagay made the commitment during his courtesy call on Misamis Oriental Gov. Juliette T. Uy at the Provincial Capitol on Sept. 11, according to the Misamis Oriental Information Office.
The meeting focused on peace and order, crime prevention and coordination between the police and provincial government.
Babagay said police would maintain visibility in communities and ensure that reported crimes are properly investigated, with due process observed and victims given access to justice.
“We are here to serve and sustain the anti-criminal campaign. Rest assured that you are all safe. We are here to protect you and maintain peace and order,” Babagay said.
He also said police would work more closely with mayors in addressing security concerns, particularly those involving children and other vulnerable sectors.
Among the measures discussed was the enforcement of local curfew ordinances for minors in coordination with local governments.
Babagay also cited continuing training and the strengthening of moral values among police personnel as part of the Philippine National Police's “back to basics” approach.
Uy, meanwhile, commended the police for their continuing efforts to maintain peace and order in the province.
Babagay said the police would also support provincial government programs and make available resources where needed.
He described coordination between the police and provincial government as important to maintaining peace and order, which he said could also help support economic activity.
The courtesy call also included Misamis Oriental Police Provincial Director PCol. Al M. Abanales.
