Iligan City — There are scheduled power interruption in parts of Baloi, Lanao Norte and parts of this city at 6:00 to 8:99 in the morning and 6:00 to 8:00 in the evening today.
Beth Ladaga, communications specialist of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines yesterday said in a text message said that affected areas will be part of Lanao Norte Electric Cooperative and parts of franchise areas, Tesda, MinGen MRO and nearby areas will also be affected.
The reason for the outage, Ladaga added, is the shutting down of Overton-MRO 13.8 KV line to facilitate emergency transfer of load from Agus 6 substation to Iligan substation. Specific areas are determined by the distribution utilities. NGCP will exert all efforts to restore power as scheduled or even earlier, Ladaga said.
Recently, NGCP has established several substations to strengthen the northern Mindanao Grid with its recent energization of newly upgraded Opol substation in Misamis Oriental last Aug. 26. NGCP said the new facility will cater to the power needs of grid users, specifically in load centers in northern Mindanao such as Iligan City and Cagayan de Oro City. Apart from the Opol substation, is also currently working on other projects such as the 230 KV Transmission Backbone Project which serves “to provide an additional and stronger power corridor for the current and upcoming power plants in the northern and southern part of the island.”
