“COME Saturday morning/I’m goin’ away with my friend/We’ll Saturday-spend till the end of the day/Just I and my friend/We’ll travel for miles in our Saturday smiles/And then we’ll move on/But we will remember long Saturday’s gone.”
So, there we were on Saturday at Claveria, Misamis Oriental where I couldn’t stop eating carbs: puto maya, turon, sikwate, pizza, and blueberry cheesecake.
Upon arriving home, I ate the pasalubong that I bought: banana chips, mixed nuts and dried fruits, and dragonfruit.
There’s good news, though. The resto where we had lunch had halo-halo in its menu and I had no craving whatsoever to order it. Yay!
But the carbo-loading thereafter did make me think it’s time to be serious with my carnivore journey. I couldn’t allow the carbo-loading to continue after staying low-carb for more than three years now.
The mental clarity in the carnivore diet is like “Because I’m happy/Clap along, if you know what happiness is to you.”
In planning your next meal or when ordering food at a resto or when you’re staring at a drive-thru menu, try choosing animal-based over plant-based. If it’s a plant, ignore. If it’s an animal, devour.
Animal-based, meaning beef, pork, chicken, fish, eggs, and other meat sources. This simplifies your diet. No need to measure if the food has 20 grams of carbs which is the maximum limit for the ketogenic diet. For carnivore, it’s simply zero carbs.
Am I writing this for you? No. I’m writing this for me. To remind myself of the mess carbs left when they didn’t go away.
I won’t write anymore about the Day One in my carnivore journey because it keeps moving.
So, here I am again, reminding myself of my deep why. Why did I decide to go low-carb in February 2022?
The ketogenic diet can reduce daily antihypertensive meds from two tablets at 100 milligrams each to only one tablet at 50 milligrams. Imagine how that will be once the diet levels up to the more strict carnivore.
The weight loss is merely a bonus to all the other perks that the low-carb diet can give: no more rhinitis, sinusitis, headaches, bloating, bum tummy, body pains, muscle pains, skin allergies, inflammation, even diabetes can be in remission. The low-carb dieter who eats high-carb food will of course experience all these side effects again.
Why is the low-carb dieter still tempted to eat high-carb food despite his knowledge about the side effects? Are carbs worth the carbs? Hmmm.
I know I’ve written about this topic for so many times, I’ve already lost count. This is how I refresh, reboot, and reset my carnivore journey.
It’s back to animal-based food for me: beef, pork, fish, butter. No chicken and eggs for now because I noticed they have side effects, too. Perhaps in the future I can add them back.
After the Saturday carbo-loading, I’ve been having fish for my TMAD — two meals a day — menu.
A fish diet is the fastest way to lose weight in one week but it doesn’t provide as much nutrients as beef and pork.
Weekends are still for travel and leisure but I have to be careful with carbs now.
