A 24-year-old food delivery driver was killed after he was stabbed several times by his attackers while having a date with his girlfriend on the coastal road in Lapasan yesterday at 1:30 am.
Police Lt. Macario Linog, Police Station 3 Deputy Commander in Agora, identified the victim as Chris Sumaña, a resident of Western Kulambog of the said barangay.
The victim, who was connected at Grab food delivery, succumbed to 10 stabbed wounds to the different parts of his body. He was declared dead upon arrival at the government hospital.
Linog told reporters that prior to the incident the victim was with his 17-year-old girlfriend (name withheld) sitting in a dimly lit portion of the coastal road at about past 12 midnight.
In an initial investigation gathered by the police, the girl narrated to them that while she and her boyfriend were at the said place, suddenly three unidentified individuals approached them ang declared a hold-up.
“Matud pa sa babaye gidala daw dayon sila sa mas mangitngit ug sagboton nga lugar. Gihigtan ang kamot sa iyang uyab ug siya gisipa mao tong nawad-an siya’g panimoot,” Linog quoted the girl as saying.
When the girl had gained consciousness, she rushed to the police station to report the matter. But when the responding authorities arrived at the area the victim was already bathing with his own blood.
Rescuers brought him to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center only to be declared him dead upon arrival by his attending physician.
It was learned that Sumaña’s cash money amounted to P7,000 plus was missing and believed to be taken by the suspects except for the motorcycle which was still in the area when the responding policemen came.
Police are also looking at the possibility that the suspects might have also sexually abused the girl.
The coastal road that connects Barangays Gusa, Lapasan to Julio Pacana street in Puntod, had been the subject of complaints by residents living nearby as well as to the motorists for lacking proper lighting.
