Under the leadership of District Governor-elect Gilda “Gigi” Go, the District Team Training Seminar for the incoming District Officers of Rotary International District 3870 was successfully held last March 11, Saturday, at the Grand Caprice Restaurant and Convention Center here in Cagayan de Oro City.
The event was graced by Rotary Dignitaries: Past District Governor Teresita “Tess” Navales, PDG Manuel “Manny” Along, PDG Fe “Bing” Juarez, PDG Rosalinda “Linda” Deleste, PDG Francisco “Frank Manga, and PDG Rogelio “Bong” Buot Jr. Current District 3870 Governor Angelo “Biong” Ladub also attended the event and shared his inspirational message.
Eighty-seven (87) incoming District officers from as far as Cotabato City came to Cagayan de Oro to attend the DTTS which was hosted by the Rotary Club of Kalayaan Cagayan de Oro. The event was chaired by Rtn Luzmar “Bimbo” Gabor of RC Kalayaan Cagayan de Oro under the tutelage of PDG Fe “Bing” Juarez, incoming District Trainer for the Rotary Year 2023-2024.
District Governor-elect Gilda “Gigi” Go presided over the DTTS as the event’s convenor.
The DTTS is where incoming district leaders learn about their roles and set goals together. The seminar is intended for assistant governors, district committee chairs, and other district leaders. Rotaractors who have been appointed to committees are also part of the training.
The DTTS is held before the presidents-elect training seminar (PETS), usually within the months of February and March, just a few months before their terms of office begin. Topics covered during the DTTS include Roles and responsibilities, goal setting, District and Rotary Resources, how to support clubs, and teamwork.
The new Rotary year begins July 1 and for this new Rotary Year, the Presidential theme is ‘Create Hope in the World’, chosen by Rotary International Incoming President R Gordon R. McInally. (Rtn Maria Christina Concepcion, Rotary Club of Kalayaan Cagayan de Oro.)
