ONE of the many consultants of RTA posted on Facebook some pictures of people meeting and a copy of the notice of meeting of the RTA mancom. The notice also indicated the agenda.
The immediate impression and conclusion I got on that post was that the RTA is not effectively being guided by the consultants to the right direction. It seems the RTA is good only in meetings and dreaming but lacks the skill in implementing their plans. In short its rating is utterly poor in managing traffic.
Look at where the city stands now in terms of traffic management. As far as the public can see, traffic in the City is worsening and no efforts from the RTA can be seen in improving the traffic situation.
The often repeated reason of lack of manpower is unbelievable since the RTA has more than 400 personnel, according to one observer. Probably the human resource office of the city can confirm this. With this number, it may only be a matter of seriously reviewing manpower deployment strategies.
I also heard from the grapevine that the chief traffic enforcer was replaced by newbies, and one of them is of doubtful integrity. According to information gathered he is called the cliffhanger. This has to be investigated and if found to be true, then that person has to be sacked.
Then I also heard Engr. Oclarit mention on radio that Atty. Tabor is the head of special operations and the overseer of RTA. Is he really What? What has he done to improve the traffic situation? Worse, what have those many consultants done?
Mayor Klarex Uy has to rethink strategies that he wants RTA to pursue. The RTA should be overhauled and refocused if only to find solutions to the traffic problems the city is facing right now. Overhauling can simply be done by reducing the number of consultants and putting somebody effective at the helm.
The city needs solutions not notices of meetings.
