IN launching the ‘Klarex Nga Serbisyo Sa Baryo’ program in barangay Tignapoloan, Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Rolando ‘Klarex’ Uy said this initiative will establish City Hall’s presence to the people.
“This outreach program will be of great assistance to and will bring joy to the people. Far too often, we see local officials not going back to the barangays after being elected by the people contrary to their election promises. I’m making good on my promise to bring City Hall closer to the people,” Mayor Uy said in Visayan during his ‘Inyong Alagad: Mayor Klarex’ program on Friday.
Uy said the majority of City Hall’s services were delivered to the hinterland barangay of Tignapoloan.
“I said previously that local elected officials should make good on their promise to deliver services to the people and not just visit them to secure votes during elections. I thank the barangay officials, the City Hall employees, and department managers for ensuring the success of the program,” he said.
City Hall’s bureaucracy was in full force for the launching activity, among them the Cagayan de Oro Technical Vocational Institute, City Local Environment and Natural Resources Office, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department, JR Borja General Hospital, City Health Office, and many others.
About 28 residents availed of technical vocational courses while free seedlings were distributed by Clenro. Circumcision services were also provided while 17 senior high school students underwent first aid training conducted by CDRRMD. Medical-dental services were also provided along with legal services by the CHO and City Legal Office respectively.
Uy said his ‘Klarex Nga Serbisyo Sa Baryo program’ took inspiration from similar outreach programs done by his predecessors. But unlike the previous outreach programs, he said the ‘Kasalan Ng Bayan’ (mass wedding) which he officiated for the first time as mayor provided roasted pigs, wines, cakes, and gift packs to 63 couples.
The next ‘Klarex Nga Serbisyo Sa Baryo’ will be held in Barangay Balubal, Uy said. (Stephen Capillas with a report from Abigail Malalis of City Information Office)
