By NITZ ARANCON MATERIALS needed for the construction of 772 houses for typhoon Sendong survivors are scheduled to be shipped into the city from Vietnam on April 19, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) announced on Wednesday. DSWD-10 disaster management office chief Virginia Cardona said Mayor Oscar Moreno has already issued an executive order to bring the materials to Barangay Lumbia the moment these reach the Macabalan pier. Cardona said the materials were donated by the Japanese government for the sole purpose of constructing 772 houses within a 10-hectare property. “Ingon ang Japanese government nga  maghulat sila kon makapalit nag yuta ang city government, ug  ang  ilang i-donate nga  mga construction materials  dili nila ihatag sa lain, para ra gyud  dinhi sa Cagayan de Oro,” Cardona said. Cardona was one of the officials who pleaded to the city council to approve a P30-million budget to purchase 10 hectares in Barangay Lumbia for the construction of the houses. DSWD regional director Nestor Ramos said he was unaware of the delays. “Wala ko masayod unsay nakalangan ana nga  housing project kay bag-o pa man ko  dinhi sa Region 10,” said Ramos. (nitz arancon)
