By Nora Soriño, Iligan City Bureau Chief, and Nene Lachica, Correspondent Iligan City — Unidentified gunmen shot a 27-year old single mother dead here Tuesday evening. Senior Inspt. Oswaldo Reotita Jr, acting station commander of Police Station 4 at Tubod, this city in his report to the Acting City Director Leony Roy Ga said at around 6:40 pm on Nov. 29, the station received a telephone call informing them of an alleged shooting incident at Tambacan Barangay at Purok 1. When they proceeded to the area they saw the lifeless body of a woman later identified as one Divina Rose Almendras, 27, single mother, and a resident of Purok 4B of said barangay. She was seen lying on her back on a narrow and dimply lit pathway. She sustained a gunshot wound on the right side portion of her forehead and on the upper portion of her back causing her untimely death. Investigations conducted disclosed that at around 6:20 pm, after taking her supper, Almendras left her residence going to the city proper and while in the barangay road of said barangay, two unidentified men were already waiting for her at a dimly lit portion of the area and when they saw her coming. One of the unidentified male suspects approached the victim and was seen arguing with the victim. Suddenly, the suspect shot Almendras. Suspects were seen hurriedly leaving the area heading towards the river banks of Tambacan. Police are still investigating the case.
