CAGAYAN de Oro City— A claim circulating on social media that Cagayan de Oro 1st District Rep. Lordan Suan intends to push for a shoot-to-kill resolution against Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa has been dismissed by the congressman's office as false.

Bert Amplayo, assistant district director of Suan's office, rejected the claim on Tuesday, November 3, saying the alleged proposal was fabricated and had no basis.

Amplayo said the post could mislead the public and damage Suan's reputation. He also questioned how such a resolution could be pursued, arguing that directing police or military operations is not part of a congressman's mandate.

He pointed out that the Constitution does not give Congress the authority to order law enforcement or military personnel to carry out specific operations, even through a resolution.

“Imposible kini mahitabo sanglit gawas naman kana sa trabaho sa usa ka kongresista. Ug kon subayon pa ang Batakang Balaod, walay gahum ang Kongreso nga mo mando sa kapulisan o militar kalabot sa ilang mga operasyon bisan pa pinaagi sa resolusyon,” Amplayo said.

He called on the public to be more careful with information shared on Facebook, particularly posts that lack credible sources.

Amplayo also claimed that some social media accounts use misleading posts for political purposes, including those directed against Suan.

He reminded users to check the source and accuracy of online claims before sharing them, warning that unverified information can easily mislead the public.
