CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY - Tacurong City’s finest martial artists made a statement on the regional stage, capturing a massive 16-medal tally at the inaugural 1st Malaybalay Bukidnon Karatedo Championship held on September 5, 2026.

The Tacurong Karatedo Association delivered a dominant performance, collecting 10 Gold, 4 Silver, and 2 Bronze medals across the Kata and Kumite events.

Demonstrating precision and technical discipline, Tacurong’s athletes swept top spots in the Kata division, led by stellar form from Ryzza Bracamonte, Avril Joy Salise, and Prince Jireh Lasquite.

The momentum carried straight into the Kumite (sparring) division, where Tacurong fighters controlled the mats. Bracamonte, Salise, and Prince Jireh Lasquite double-dipped into the gold hardware alongside teammates Leandre Lounel Baron, Vrieth Lasquite, Elthon Jan Jandugan, Marisdel Faith Caligdong, and Michael Rizano.

Adding to the tally, silver medals were secured by Zeddrick Dwnyane, Jushua Sembrano, Zakinah Mangudadatu, and Cael Caligdong following hard-fought final bouts.

The team’s dominant run was guided from the sidelines by Head Trainer John Robert L. Butil and Assistant Coach Michael Rizano, whose tactical preparation and leadership proved decisive throughout the tournament.

Following the victory, the City Youth Development Office (CYDO) along with City Mayor Hon. Lina O. Montilla, PhD commended the delegation, highlighting the athletes' dedication to bringing pride and honor to Tacurong City.
