CAGAYAN de Oro City — Taglimao National High School athletes collected 13 podium finishes in track and field, badminton, esports, volleyball, and chess at the Southwest 1 District Meet 2026 on Sept. 10–11. 

Artemio Salmoy Jr. led Taglimao’s campaign with five finishes, including a championship in the men’s long jump. 

Salmoy also placed second in the shot put and javelin throw and third in the 200-meter dash and high jump. 

Hazel Gaabon added another championship for Taglimao by winning the women’s long jump, while Chona Macarandan placed third in the women’s 200-meter dash. 

Daniel Navarro and Gabriel Jampit both won their respective men’s singles badminton events. Krissel Jaraula and Princess Baguio finished second in women’s doubles. 

Taglimao’s men’s teams also finished second in volleyball and Mobile Legends esports. 

Kearth Udasco added a third-place finish in the men’s discus throw, while Janine Cagmat placed fourth in women’s chess. Roldan Villame finished fifth in the men’s 100-meter dash. 

The district meet was held at Tumpagon National High School and the Tumpagon Barangay Hall Gymnasium. 

School administrators commended the athletes and coaches for their efforts, particularly coaches Eduardo Calingao, Razel Abella, Emmanuel Almonia, Javent Erl Cadalso, Marbeth Maboloc, and Challymar Daanoy, with assistant coaches Edward Acuña and Glenn Arcega.
