MOTORCYCLE-riding vigilantes have struck again in the city killing a trisikad driver and wounding his girlfriend while they were sleeping.
S/Sgt. Hernan Abalde, Carmen Police Station investigator identified the fatality as Leonardo Quimbo, Jr., 22, a resident of Agora, Lapasan, this city. His girlfriend, identified only as Nelly, sustained multiple wounds after the gun attack.
Abalde said both Quimbo and Nelly were sleeping inside a tri-cab when the motorcycle-riding assailants attacked at around 2:30 am, Saturday along the boundary of Barangays Bayabas and Kauswagan, this city.
Quimbo, Abalde said, succumbed to four bullet wounds to the different parts of his body and died on the spot.
Seized from the crime scene were two spent bullets and three shell casings of an undetermined gun caliber.
A civilian volunteer of Bayabas, Oscar Masyon, alleged that Quimbo was a leader of a burglary syndicate, Akyat Bahay Gang and that he has several hold-up cases in their barangay.
“Sigi namo na siya ug kadakpan, pero dili mapriso kay ang mga biktima sa kawat dili man mo-file ug kaso. Mao nang mabuhian gyud ug kon makabuhi na, mangawat na sab dayon,” Masyon alleged.
However, this allegation was vehemently denied by the victim’s father, Leonardo Quimbo, Sr.
“Driver man na siya sa sikad sa una. Dili man na siya kawatan,” the victim’s father said.
For his part, Abalde said he could not confirm that the victim had several cases of burglary and hold-up.
The authorities are still facing a blank wall as to the motive of the killing or the identities of the motorcycle-riding vigilantes.
But Abalde added they will still pursue looking into the killing of Quimbo.
Quimbo’s body was sent to Bollozos Funeral Parlor while the pieces of evidence were sent to the Scene of the Crime Operatives.
