A 61-year-old driver was killed when his driven letter courier truck crashed into another truck while traversing the national highway along Kitaotao town in Bukidnon.

Police Capt. Christopher Tuzara ll, Kitaotao Police Station commander, identified the fatality as Leonardo Magbanua, married, and a resident of Purok 2, Emily Homes, Cabantian, Davao City.

He suffered multiple cut wounds to the different parts of his body that resulted in his death.

The incident took place at 8:50 pm at Purok 2, Barangay Lorega of the said place.

Magbanua, who was a driver of Luzon Brokerage Company or LBC Express, Inc., based in Pasay City, Manila aluminum van with plate number AKA 2445 was heading for Davao City from Quezon, Bukidnon when the incident occurred.

According to the report, the accident happened when Magbanua lost control of his steering wheel when he overtook a passenger bus while descending along the blind curve portion of the road.

An investigation revealed, Magbanua tried not to hit the incoming Isuzu wing van but to no avail.

Wjng van driver Jay Pee Placido, 24 of Saguiran, Lanao Del Sur, only sustained minor bruises and contusions on his body and is already declared in stable condition.

His driven truck with plate number KAH 9743 is registered under the name of John Lim of Barangay Carmen, Cagayan De Oro City.

Magbanua was rushed to Buda German hospital where he was declared dead upon arrival.

Meanwhile, Placido surrendered to the responding police officers.
