BANGSAMORO Chief Prime Minister Ahod Ebrahim, AL-Hajj, of the United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP), expressed strong confidence in his party’s chances of winning the first-ever Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections set for May next year.
The UBJP held a general assembly and consultative meeting yesterday at the Sultan Amir M. Balindong Gymnasium in Malabang, Lanao del Sur.
Ebrahim emphasized the importance of winning the election to continue the ongoing peace process in the region.
“This election is a product of our peace process. The peace process is not yet completed, so we need to ensure the government’s support to fully implement it,” said Ebrahim.
He highlighted efforts to form coalitions with other parties to secure a majority in the historic election.
Ebrahim also expressed confidence in gaining support from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., citing unfinished programs in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (Barmm).
He said that government assistance is crucial for supporting over 40,000 decommissioned combatants in the region.
“Our political party is well-organized, with strong grassroots support from the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF),” Ebrahim said adding: “It’s about integrating the MILF into the government arena.”
Maguindanao del Norte Governor Abdularaof Macacua, present at the assembly, urged attendees to view the parliamentary elections as a normal democratic process with diverse viewpoints.
He also pointed out the necessity of winning to continue the positive changes brought about during Ebrahim’s term.
Ebrahim pointed to significant achievements under his leadership, including a 20 percent reduction in poverty, a 30 percent increase in investment in rice production, and improved peace and order throughout Barmm.
