MISAMIS Oriental Governor Peter M. Unabia highlights his accomplishments including the upgrading of Laguindingan Domestic Airport to an International in and out of the provincial capitol State of the Province Address (Sopa) held at the municipality of Alubijid on February 27.

Gov. Unabia Chair of the Committee on Infrastructure of the Regional Development Council RDC in Region 10 proudly presents his accomplishments including the upgrading of Laguindingan Domestic Airport to an International Airport located in Laguindingan this province.

2nd District Congressman Yevgeny Vincente ‘Bambi’ Emano said in a message that Aboitiz who won the bidding will take over the management of the airport in April this year and it is expected that three years from now the project will be fully operational as an international airport for two million passengers.

In his report to the people, Unabia also mentions the improvement of tourism in the province, the construction of more roads, school buildings, students' dormitories, the development of health services, livelihood programs, continuous scholarship programs, and others.

He also promised to reduce the poverty incidence from 19 percent in 2021 to a single digit in 2028 through their Single Digit Poverty Incidence SDPI program, which is now only 16.3 percent as of the first quarter of 2024.

The Food Always in the Home (FAITH) now has 2,296 FAITH gardens In the province.

As part of his (Unabia) achievements, the province has secured a P10 million peso Shared Services Facility (SSF) project for Abaca Fiber Mechanization.

Gov Unabia said that he hired 467 Reading Teachers to help develop our children in Misamis Oriental in reading.

Unabia also reported on quarry revenue collection which increased by 400% in 2024 to P96 million pesos is higher than in 2023 which is P78 million and in 2022 at P15 million.

Unabia also highlighted how he has helped fishermen in the entire province who spent millions of pesos such as the distribution of fiber plastic glass boats and other financial assistance.

Gov Unabia emphasized that his success in the implementation of his program and projects would not be possible without the cooperation of everyone and expressed his gratitude to his son, Congressman Christian Unabia in the first district and to Congressman Emano for always helping to find funds for the development of the province.

While about P282,500,000 million worth of projects were implemented in Alubijid alone through the effort and initiative of Congressman Emano.

Provincial Board Member Robert de Lara said that the purpose of Sopa was held outside the Provincial Capitol so that the people would know the achievements of the provincial administration under Gov. Unabia.
