MISAMIS Oriental Gov. Peter Unabia wants to speed up the implementation of the expansion of health services in the entire province as mandated by Republic Act 11223, otherwise known as Universal Health Care Act.
Talisayan Vice Mayor Rommel C. Maslog confirmed in behalf of the governor as Provincial Health Consultant.
He said the governor wants to speed up the implementation of the expansion of health services in the province where all health services from the local government units are consolidated.
The consolidation of health services in each local government is done so that only one policy can be implemented throughout the province through Provincial Health Board, Maslog said.
Unabia promised to improve the health service in the entire province, as he also expanded the health board membership with sectoral representation including Indigenous Peoples in order to monitor the situation, especially in remote areas, Maslog cited.
“Gihimo nga aksyon arun pud ma address gayod ang mga problema sa kahimtang sa panglawas sa mga lagyong dapit sa lalawigan,” Maslog said.
The governor believes that many of its constituents have not been given enough attention, especially in the far-flung barangays of the province, Maslog said.
However, Maslog said the task is not easy without the cooperation of every sector, including local governments in the province.
The national government has never been able to fully implement the said law, he added.
But in Misamis Oriental, the governor is trying to implement the expansion of the health services by expanding also the membership of the health board of the province.
He said the Provincial Health Board is a policy-making body of the province in health-related activity as mandated by said RA 11223.
The Provincial Health Board is planning to put up CT Scan in the two districts of the province, including a dialysis facility.
