A vegetable canvasser at West-Bound terminal in Bulua was shot and killed by a still unidentified gunman yesterday afternoon.

Police Major Jerson Estanilla of Police station 7, identified the victim as Nevel Liponhay alias ‘Kokoy,’ 40, a resident of Zone 1, Barangay Bayabas, Cagayan de Oro City.

The victim succumbed from a lone gunshot wound on the left portion of his head from a still undermined caliber.

Police investigators were able to recover two empty shells, and a bullet slug near the body of the victim.

Estanilla said investigators also found 12 small sachets and another big sachet containing a white crystalized substance believed to be shabu inside the belt bag owned by the victim.

In the closed-circuit television in the area the suspect was seen as medium built, wearing a black sweatshirt, black cap, and wearing denim pants.

It was learned that Liponhay had just arrived in the city this year from Manila.

People in the area are not so familiar with him as the suspect was just new at the said place as a vegetable canvasser.

Estanilla said their investigators will continue to conduct an investigation to determine what was really the motive of the killing and why the victim was possessing illegal drugs.

They will also check the messages from the latter’s mobile phone hoping they would get some information that could lead to the identity of the suspect.
