GOLD Star Daily’s banner news for the print edition on Wednesday: “PACQ hid at KOJC school.”

PACQ. If you read its two syllables aloud, it sounds like… Yuck you. Luck you. Duck you.

PACQ is Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy, the self-proclaimed “appointed son of God.” A Facebook post, however, changed that to “disappointed son of God” after he was arrested, er, after he surrendered.

Did PACQ say PACQ to the arresting officer, er, to the officer he surrendered to? Of course not. Because being the “appointed son of God,” he always has to be very demure and very mindful.

Let’s see who has better survival skills: PACQ or Alice Guo. Those skills will be tested once the circus is over and they’re alone with their respective thoughts while the lyrics “Nandoon na, nawala pa” are in a continuous loop.

But since this is Pinas where even a former dictator’s son could become president, the “nawala pa” may not apply to PACQ and Guo whose respective circles of rich and powerful friends will always be there to support them. It’s always “nandoon na” for them.

The people outside of those circles will be saying, Tama na, sobra na, palitan na—much like what the yellows did when they wanted the Marcoses out of Malacanang.

Each time a slogan becomes popular, the first thought that should come to mind is public relations. That’s all there is to it, thanks to the PR team whose slogan should be, “What is the sound of one hand clapping?”

As PR teams prepare for Election 2025, may the best PR team, er, political candidate win. It’s not an easy task especially if their clients are as infamous as PACQ and Guo. But if the Marcoses could make a major comeback, anything is possible.

The most important question for Election 2025: Will a PBBM endorsement ensure victory?

Another question: Will a PBBM relative always win while the Marcoses are occupying Malacanang?

If that relative is running in Ilocos Norte or Leyte, or for a national position, sure na. But probably not in Cagayan de Oro where the voter may finally choose a homegrown mayoral candidate this time.

So, will homegrown be the only qualification? Nope. There’s this one particular CDO barangay where that is not enough, since some of its residents have learned to vote for the highest “bidder.”

Elections are definitely more fun in Pinas where the only concern when it comes to bribery is for its distribution to be very demure and very mindful. Therefore, don’t say PACQ while responding to voters who are asking why their names are not on the lucky list.

Political candidates have to be very demure and very mindful while campaigning. They have to make pa-cute and pa-sweet, and have to tusok-tusok-the-bola-bola if the occasion calls for it. This is easy for the rags-to-riches candidate since he can relate with anyone. It’s the born-with-a-silver-spoon who may have a hard time talking with the madlang pehpohl.

That’s the madlang pehpohl who believe they’re the ones voting until they see the results and wonder where their votes went. Oops!
