HOW authentic are you? Do you walk the talk?

Let's face it, at some point in our lives, we've all met those people who love to give advice but when it comes to living by their own words, they're like finding a needle in a haystack. And in our younger years, we’ve been just as guilty. So, here's my take on the importance of "walking the talk," but let’s keep things light and breezy.

Consistency is Key (but so is my coffee). I’m not a morning person. I need a dose of caffeine to perk up my brain. Yet, some people preach the virtues of early mornings, but you never see them without a double-shot espresso at 9 am. This is what consistency means. Being consistent between what you say and what you do is like a good cup of coffee—strong, dependable, and keeps you awake. You tell your team that punctuality matters, yet you walk into meetings 15 minutes late with a sheepish grin and a lukewarm cappuccino.

Intentions vs. Procrastination. I'm sure you often see social media content about procrastination. You wonder if the world has gone this negative that we need to be reminded of it. Setting clear intentions is like mapping out a treasure hunt. To achieve more, aim for the target. Procrastination, on the other hand, is the act of delaying tasks. It's like continually making excuses for something you have not achieved. Intentions without actions result in procrastination. It’s like enrolling yourself at the gym but never actually going there.

Accountability: Owning Up Like a Pro. You brought home your work laptop for the weekend, aiming to finish reports but ended up doing a series marathon. Monday came and you're in a panic. Adulting is real and the moment you join the corporate world, be prepared to own up to your actions. Tempting as it might be to blame household tasks, the fact remains, you did not raise a finger.

Overcoming Challenges. Cliché as it may sound, life’s not a bed of roses, but that doesn't mean you have to give up. Face it and if you fall, stand up, learn from it, and move forward. The worst thing you can do is run away from obstacles. They will always haunt you like a ghost. Even Superman at some point tripped over his cape.

Walking the talk isn't about impressing others; it's about building self-trust and achieving your goals. Make sure your actions speak as loudly as your words. And remember, adding a little humor won’t hurt in getting you through anything. Be your authentic self — one coffee cup at a time.
