SUNDAYS are the only days now that I can stay home, read books, and write the whole day. So, if ever there’s an invite not coming from my immediate family, I’m kind of, hmmm, is it worth going out for?
Because if it’s not, the inviter can’t even imagine what’s in my thought bubble. And I won’t reveal what’s in that thought bubble otherwise, Hello, World War III.
And some people are now speculating on the possible aftermath of that meeting between US Pres. Donald Trump and Ukraine Pres. Volodymyr Zelenskyy. World War III, anyone? Juice colored!
Donald Duck is my most favorite Disney character because there was a time, way back in the ‘90s, when a business that I was managing made me behave like the famous duck whose words can’t be spelled when he’s angry.
That business was simply not my cup of tea. As to why I stayed, that’s another column which I may not even write because para que? I guess it’s much like the battered wife who stays because…
Because. Just that one word.
What’s the difference between Donald the president and Donald the duck? Hmmm. One is a cartoon character and the other is a duck?
Many Filipino-Americans voted for Trump. Since we live here in Pinas, we may not be able to relate with their reason for choosing him. But try living in the U.S. and perhaps you’ll learn the why.
Republicans and Democrats are like the North and South Poles—exact opposites with their respective lists of unique traits that can go on and on. For those who want to live and work in the U.S., though, the most essential must be this: Democrats are friendlier to immigrants.
Some of those immigrants will then vote for Republicans in the future. But does that stop Democrats from helping foreigners become American citizens? No.
Lucky are the immigrants who are now American citizens for they won’t have to quiver in fear each time a Republican occupies the White House. Weather-weather lang ‘yan.
Even tourist visas can play hard-to-get if there’s a Republican in the White House.
In an ideal world, people can hop from one country to another without visas. But this is not an ideal world, thus, the visas to ensure that no unworthy human being is traveling to worthy tourist destinations. Kind of worth the plane-ticket price.
Much like my POV—point of view—on what’s worth the carbs. Will this baked goodie be worth the carbs and the side effects? Will I look back to this goodie with a satiated sigh in the midst of a blood pressure spike? Will I thank this goodie for giving me sugar cravings, allergies, rhinitis, inflammation, brain fog, the blues, and body pains?
What exactly is worth the carbs?
A woman of a certain age is much aware of the worth of anything and everything. Once I start to look like I’d rather be anywhere but here or there, that’s when I’ve realized it has been such a waste of time and effort. But I’ve also learned to make the most of whatever it is that’s wasting my time and effort. The untrained eye of the wannabe observant may never know if I’m bored or not. Hmmm. Fingers crossed.
