ILIGAN CITY— Police seized an estimated ₱2.05 million worth of alleged smuggled cigarettes and arrested a suspect during an intelligence-driven checkpoint operation in Barangay Rebokun, Malabang, Lanao del Sur.
The Malabang Municipal Police Station (MPS), with support from the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company, intercepted a vehicle carrying 48 master cases, or about 2,400 reams, of suspected smuggled cigarettes.
Authorities said the confiscated cigarettes have an estimated market value of ₱2.05 million.
The suspect, whose identity was withheld pending the filing of charges, was taken into police custody.
Police said the operation was part of the Philippine National Police's intensified campaign against smuggling and other illegal activities in the municipality.
The Malabang MPS said it will continue intelligence-driven operations and checkpoint enforcement to curb the transport of illegal goods and strengthen public safety.
