ABOITIZ InfraCapital, Inc. (AIC), the infrastructure arm of the Aboitiz Group, has been awarded a contract to upgrade, operate, and maintain the Laguindingan Airport in Misamis Oriental.
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) issued the notice of award (NOA) to AIC on September 30, 2024. The signing of the concession agreement is expected by the end of October.
This marks a significant addition to AIC’s airport portfolio, reinforcing its presence in the Philippine aviation sector.
“We are excited to revitalize Laguindingan Airport and collaborate with stakeholders to create a world-class facility that serves both travelers and the community,” said Cosette V. Canilao, AIC President and CEO.
AIC plans to invest P12.75 billion in the airport’s modernization, aiming to enhance passenger experience, operational efficiency, and safety standards. The 30-year concession will cover the renovation and expansion of existing facilities, including the passenger terminal and installation of new equipment.
Laguindingan Airport, the second-busiest in Mindanao after Davao City’s Francisco Bangoy International Airport, is part of AIC’s broader strategy to develop infrastructure assets that boost connectivity and economic growth in the Philippines.

AIC currently operates Mactan-Cebu International Airport, which recently earned a four-star rating from Skytrax.
