CAMIGUIN Water Company (CWC) ensures the safety of its consumers by implementing a chlorination process to provide clean drinking water straight from the tap.
CWC even shares practical tips on how consumers can enjoy their water without any unpleasant taste or odor.
According to CWC, chlorination effectively eliminates harmful bacteria, viruses, and parasites, which can cause water-related illnesses.
“By employing this process, CWC aims to contribute to a healthier Camiguin by reducing the occurrence of waterborne diseases and enhancing overall well-being,” CWC General Manager Jonathan Sarsonas said.
CWC personnel monitor and maintain optimal chlorine levels to ensure reliable and consistent disinfection, as required in the 2017 Philippine National Standards for Drinking Water (PNSDW).
This process prevents costly treatments for waterborne diseases and ensures continuous disinfection with chlorine’s residual presence.
Although chlorination may affect the taste and odor of the water, CWC suggests several methods to address this issue.
Consumers can boil water for 10 minutes to allow the chlorine to evaporate naturally.
They can also pour water into a container and let it sit uncovered for 24 hours to dissipate chlorine.
Another option is to attach a carbon filter to the faucet or a filtered pitcher to remove chlorine, providing clean and great-tasting water.
