CAGAYAN de Oro City government partners with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to Sell affordable premium rice at city hall mini-park; limited to 5 kilos per buyer.
Led by Mayor Rolando 'Klarex' Uy, with the DTI provincial office to offer premium and well-milled rice for sale.
"The rice is priced at P45 and P43 per kilo, respectively," said City Mayor's Office chief of staff Shiela Lumbatan.
Lumbatan said this special sale is taking place at the City Hall mini-park from Monday (Sept. 11) to Friday (Sept. 15) between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
During Monday morning's flag-raising program, lawyer Edgardo Uy, the chairman of City Hall's Regulatory Compliance Board (RCB) and co-chairman of the City Price Coordinating Council, confirmed this news.
The announcement was made by the City Management Information Systems and Innovations Department (CMISID).
According to Uy, each buyer is limited to purchasing five kilos of rice per day.
However, they have the option to buy an additional five kilos the following day.
This initiative aims to provide affordable and quality rice to the residents of Cagayan de Oro, according to Lumbatan.
By selling premium and well-milled rice at a reasonable price, the local government and the DTI provincial office hope to address the needs of the community.
"The sale is expected to benefit those who have been struggling with the increasing cost of rice in the market," Lumbatan stressed.
She said the City Hall mini-park serves as the venue for this special rice sale.
"With its convenient location, residents can easily access the rice supply during the specified time frame," she said.
This initiative not only supports the local economy but also ensures that the residents have access to essential food items at affordable prices.
Lumbatan added the residents are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to purchase premium and well-milled rice at City Hall.
She said by imposing limits on the quantity of rice purchased each day, the local government aims to ensure that the supply is distributed fairly among the residents.
"The initiative demonstrates the commitment of the local government to address the needs of its constituents and promote their well-being," Lumbatan said.
