CAGAYAN de Oro City — Attention, property owners. The City Government of Cagayan de Oro is offering a golden opportunity to clear your overdue property taxes completely free of penalties, surcharges, and interest.

The City Hall is strongly urging local taxpayers to take advantage of the program, emphasizing that by doing so, they can protect their hard-earned assets and save on hefty interest charges. It reminded the public to settle their property tax obligations before the July 5, 2026 cutoff.

Under City Ordinance No. 14989-2024, which implements Section 30 of the Real Property Valuation and Assessment Reform Act (RPVARA), or Republic Act No. 12001, a Real Property Tax (RPT) Amnesty Program is currently underway.

If you have unpaid real property taxes, this is your chance to update your records and save money.

However, you must act quickly, as city officials have explicitly stated that no extension will be granted beyond the deadline.

What is covered by the amnesty?

According to the official guidelines shown in the accompanying flyer, the amnesty waives all penalties, surcharges, and interest on unpaid real property taxes due on or before July 5, 2024.

This specifically includes the Special Education Fund (SEF), Idle Land Tax, and other special levy taxes.

Who is not eligible?

Please note that, as detailed in the flyer, the tax amnesty does not apply to the following: properties that have already been sold at public auction; properties with existing payment delinquencies under a current compromise agreement; and properties with pending court cases.

Flexible payment options

To make it easier for residents, the city offers flexible payment methods, as shown in the flyer.

Taxpayers can choose to settle their unpaid obligations through a one-time full payment (Usa ka bayranan) or on an installment basis (Pinaagi sa data-data nga pagbayad).
